Please consider donating to Golden United as part of your end-of-year giving. Our ongoing programs focus on improving the quality of life for all Golden residents by encouraging cooperative action between city leaders, community members and groups, businesses, and the Colorado School of Mines (CSM).
Your donations directly support community organizers helping our manufactured home community residents, gift cards to support families’ immediate needs, space rental and planning of community meetings, communications, accounting, software licenses, and other similar expenses. Our 100% volunteer board of directors keeps the administrative costs at a minimum so that your donation directly advances Golden United’s mission. Your donations show granting organizations that their money is leveraged with direct community support. In 2024, we received over $17,500 in grants to support our efforts.
What We Do
In 2025, we plan to continue to build on our impactful work in four main areas:
1) Preserving existing affordable housing, and promoting awareness and education about housing issues and solutions in Golden;
2) Improving education and awareness of mental health issues and available resources;
3) Collaborating with Colorado School of Mines student and faculty organizations; and
4) Supporting and amplifying the work of community partners.
Thanks to your support, engagement, and grant funding, we had many accomplishments in 2024 including the following key highlights:
Affordable Housing
In April, Golden United co-organized the Golden Terrace Resource Fair. Over two dozen civic, community, public health, and local business partners were organized at the Golden Terrace manufactured home community. More than 60 residents and neighbors gathered to learn about the myriad resources available in our community.
Golden United also provided Know Your Rights information for manufactured home communities.
Golden United is planning educational housing activities for 2025. We welcome suggestions from community members on future topics and are glad to have volunteers join us in planning and organizing these activities.
Mental Health Activities
Golden United convened two mental health discussion and educational forums in partnership with the City of Golden, Jefferson Center for Mental Health, and Golden Community Partners.
The first event was a mental health 101 forum providing an overview of mental health issues, strategies, and resources and a discussion of priorities for further mental health activities.
The second event focused on how to have discussions with family members or colleagues experiencing mental health crises or challenges. This was an interactive event where participants applied strategies in a role playing format.
Golden United is planning additional mental health activities for 2025, with consideration of events with expert speakers on such topics as suicide prevention and on death and dying. We welcome suggestions from community members on future mental health activities and are glad to have volunteers join us in planning and organizing these activities.
Broader Activities
Partnered with the city on communications of critical events to our members;
Leveraged our non-profit status to assist other organizations who need assistance;
Provided information and resources for local elections. Our 2024 compilation can be found here.
Golden United supported other organizations in our community.
Golden United is planning a Community Celebration event for 2025. Please stay tuned…
We encourage you to support the continuation and expansion of these and other similar activities in 2025 through your donations.
Thank you!
